but what she meant was he would swing
everyone and a while
but they never connected
now i hear he swung to michigan
now i hear those guys are hiding him
in one of those foreclosed northeast
basements
growing out his whiskers with the rats and cats coming up with a new name
well it’s a weird thing to hear you say
we may actually be safer here in Winnipeg
catch a couple CFL games
dinner and a few good dates
cus they always come back one day
and the worst part is they think they’ve
changed
it’s not that we miss his connections
it’s just that next time he won’t be the one swinging
or something like that
what a funny reaction
like black holes
drenched in molasses
slowed down but bright and still somewhat attractive
no we’re smiling while the whole universe
sits there then collapses
like
shooting stars
beautiful then absent
like
northern lights hidden in an attic
take it in,
it’s just
chemical reactions
so
let’s react with them
it’s not like we miss his connections
we’re doing alright, actually
pretty fine without them
